Lights, Camera, Winterfest!
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, or should I say a celebration here in The Great Smoky Mountains. Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville, Tennessee are all ready for their annual Winterfest celebration. This year marks the 27th year for this bright Holiday Season. (Yes, Winterfest is considered a season for us here in the Smokies) With over a million lights placed throughout the Smoky Mountain area this is an attraction definitely worth visiting. Who knows this event may also become your family fun Holiday Tradition, like it has for many visiting families.
Grab Your Cameras
Make sure to grab your cameras, you don’t want to miss a moment. Starting Monday, November 7th, 2016, Sevierville Smoky Mountain Winterfest Kickoff will begin at 3:00 pm. There will be family fun activities, music, and free food available. The lighting ceremony will begin at 7:45 pm followed by a fireworks show. Along with this celebration, Mountain Valley Winery is releasing a sweet red wine with Holiday Mulling Spices blended together, called Winterfest Red.
Winterfest Red, is a limited special edition wine that will be released at 9:00 am at Mountain Valley Winery. Mountain Valley Winery is located at 2174 Parkway, Pigeon Forge, TN 37863. The wine is a special holiday red wine with a wine label that has the Smoky Mountain Winterfest logo printed on the bottles. This is a LIMITED special edition bottle, only 1000 available. You will be able to try a free sample and take a bottle home with you November 7th, 2016!
The next day, Tuesday, November 8th, 2016, Pigeon Forge Smoky Mountain Winterfest Kickoff will be a fun exciting day that begins at 4:00 pm. The countdown to the winter lights being turned on will begin at 5:15 pm followed by a fireworks show at the Patriot Park. After or before the firework show be sure to stop by The Old Mill Winery, located in walking distance from the Patriot Park (0.1 miles). Enjoy a glass of wine or hard cider on the patio overlooking the bright lights placed on the bridge. Who knows you might even see Big Blue, The Old Mill Winery’s blue heron friend, looking for a snack in the river.
Then on Wednesday, November 9th, 2016 Downtown Gatlinburg will host their Annual Gatlinburg Winter Magic Kickoff & Chili Cook-off. Starting at 5:00 pm Gatlinburg will offer mouthwatering recipes of homemade chili and for only $10… and you can sample them all! Enjoy the beautiful LED lighting show displayed throughout the whole town. Once you hit traffic light #10 don’t forget to stop by Gatlinburg’s favorite winery in town, Sugarland Cellars. Get a taste of true Tennessee wines and peruse the gift shop filled with winter and wine related gifts. Be sure to ask a staff member for a delicious award winning wine that will pair great with your chili recipe. If you want to cook with it or drink it is up to you. . 😀
